Margaret "Maggie" Leigh is a main character on AMC's NOS4A2. She is portrayed by Jahkara Smith.[1]

She’s a Strong Creative who seeks out Vic McQueen and together they plot to take down Charlie Manx once and for all. However, it turns out the be a difficult journey.

Early Life[]

Maggie comes from a very religious family. So much so that when they discovered her abilities, she was disowned and called "unholy." Furthermore, her addiction to drugs and attraction to women further isolated her.

Throughout the Series[]

Powers and Abilities[]

Maggie realized her potential as a Strong Creative at a young age. It's one of the reasons she no longer speaks to her heavily religious family, as they believe such abilities to be unnatural. Maggie uses her Knife, a purple bag of Scrabble tiles, to solve problems, as they offer her answers to the questions she has, though, like in Scrabble, they don't give proper nouns and there's also the possibility of her failing to unscrabble the message correctly, such as the case with her mistaking Haley Smith's cat "MITTENS" for "SMITTEN." Maggie is bound to her Tiles. She threw them away after being ran over by Charlie Manx's Wraith, and they found their way back to her doorstep. However, with ever gift comes a cost. Since discovering her Tiles, Maggie has developed a stutter, which has matured into full-blown seizures every time she uses her Tiles.

Physical Appearance[]

Maggie is a young woman with brown skin, brown eyes, and long purple hair. She has a snake tattoo on her left wrist and a red rose on her chest. Maggie often dresses in bright colors, particularly purple clothing. Most notably, she wears scrabble tiles as earrings that spell "F" and "U".

Personality[]

Best described as bubbly and charismatic, Maggie is a Strong Creative with a desire to help others. None more so that Vic McQueen, who she helped guide on her quest to stop Charlie Manx and rescues the children of Christmasland, even at her own personal loss. After being ran down by Manx's Wraith, Maggie briefly gave up her pursuit of Manx and threw away her Scrabble bag. She then relapsed and became addicted to prescription pills. It wasn't until after Joe was taken by Manx that she reunited with Vic to take down the Wraith.

Quotes[]

My Scrabble tiles told me you were coming. They can tell me just about anything, if I listen. They can't give me proper nouns, though, like in Scrabble. But nicknames are okay. Hence "the Brat." I'm Maggie Leigh, by the way.
— Maggie to Vic

For a long time, the Tiles were the only consistent thing in my life. So wherever I went, whoever I lost, the Tiles were there. And then I fell in love. I always thought it was just gonna be me and my Tiles. But Tabitha's my home 'cause I chose her.

I spent years without my Tiles. For you. B-Because I love you. But I always felt like something was missing. This... This is a small price to pay. So, can you pl... Can you please just accept me? Because I'm not gonna stop using my gift ever again. For anyone.
— Maggie to Tabitha

No, Vic, no! No more kids getting ripped away from their families. No more ornaments on his creepy trees. I started hunting the Wraith before you, so I'm going to finish it with you.
— Maggie to Vic

Vic, not every Inscape is Christmasland. Think about Jolene's Tunnels. Your Bridge, yours. There is so much in this world for us to explore. Crooked Alley, the Empty Forest. My Tiles have told me about all kinds of places. Okay, and you know that they came back to me for a reason.
