Early Life[]
Throughout the Series[]
Season 1[]
The Shorter Way[]
Here, Iowa, Maggie Leigh, the local librarian arrives on the scene of the crime. Sheriff Joe Bly informs her that there was a break in. However, it was more than that. Maggie noticed Daniel Moore’s bike on the ground, his mother’s body in the yard, and the syringe not far from her. Sheriff Bly informed Maggie that Daniel was missing. He was supposed to come to the library for literacy. Maggie was going to walk him over. Sheriff Bly had no idea what they were dealing with, but he didn’t want Maggie involved and asked that she leave the investigating to them. As Maggie was leaving the scene, she noticed a candy cane in the street.
Sheriff Bly is approached by Maggie outside the Sheriff Department. She asks with a slight stutter if anyone in town drives a Rolls Royce Wraith. Sheriff Bly informs her that they found the body of Peter Ives last night in Plymouth County. He was a nurse practitioner down in Florida wanted for disappearances all over the country. They think he killed Karen Moore and her boyfriend. As for Daniel Moore, they suspect he’s dead. Maggie asks if Ives owned a Wraith. She believes that they’ll find Danny if they find the Wraith because her scrabble tiles told her. They had been right before; Mrs. Richardson in the quarry for instance. While Bly is willing to admit that Maggie’s been helpful in the past, they’ll be solving this case by the books. While leaving, Maggie takes Ives report with her.
Scissors for the Drifter[]
Sheriff Bly attempts to get Maggie help, during her recovery from an attack by Charlie Manx. Though the event leaves her shaken and she begins to go back to "old habits". When Bly comes to tell her that the proprietress reported Manx and Bing, he's disappointed to see she's been taking drugs. He drops her off at his home and sends cops to go to the scrap yard. Unknown to both, Bing repairs the car and Manx restores himself to full strength causing the proprietress to have a heart attack. The two run but not before Manx decides to take Sheriff Bly as repercussion for nearly getting caught. Maggie awakes to find the faucet running and Joe's car empty with a message and a candy cane; from Manx.
Manx with Bing's assistance drives back to Christmastown, revealing Sheriff Bly under the effects of the gas. Vulnerable, he gives them to the children including Daniel Moore. The children want to play a game of Scissors for the Drifter in which they kill the Sheriff and eat him.
Physical Appearance[]
Joe was a middle-aged man with brown eyes and skin. He was often seen in his sheriff uniform.
Personality[]
Sheriff Bly was for the most part a kind person and deeply cared for Maggie like a parent. Though he didn't believe in her gift, he was use to it and was surprised when she had thrown them away.
